Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Waskita Karya (Waskita) said it is targeting to complete repairs of the Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung and Kayu Agung-Palembang-Betung (KAPB) toll roads before Eid Al Fitr this year.

The project team is focusing on sections of the damaged toll roads, Waskita’s director of operation II, Bambang Rianto, informed in a press statement received here on Monday.

He said he is optimistic that the repairs can be completed soon, in line with the directives of Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuldjono.

“The project team is focusing on the repairs of the damaged toll roads to meet the minimum service standards (SPM), thereby ensuring the safety and comfort of users, in a bid to support public mobility during the Eid Al Fitr exodus,” he said.

The enterprise is aiming to complete repairing the Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung (TBPPKA), stretching 189 kilometers in length, before the 2022 Eid Al Fitr exodus, he added.

All permanent repairs of rigid and flexible pavements will be accomplished by April 2022, he highlighted.

The section of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) is among the important segments for supporting the effectiveness and efficiency of public mobility in Sumatra, especially before Eid Al Fitr, Rianto said.

The first stage of the 42.5-kilometer Kayu Agung-Palembang-Betung toll road will also be fully repaired, especially potholes, he added.

The toll road will be operated by a subsidiary of Waskita Toll Road, PT Waskita Sriwijaya Tol (WST), he said.

“We are targeting to cover all hole points identified at Kapal Betung road, no matter how small they are. If new holes are found, they will be soon covered with baro-baro coldmix asphalt from South Korea in less than 24 hours. The target crosses the SPM of toll road maintenance, 2x24 hours,” Rianto explained.

He expressed the hope that Kapal Betung road would have zero potholes.
