“As a forum for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) around the world to voice people's aspirations to G20 leaders, the C20 has a vital role to play in facing global challenges, namely health, digitalization, and climate change as well as geopolitical instability in the region, including what is happening in Europe," Hartarto said at the C20 kick-off meeting and ceremony in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Monday.
He further said he really hoped that the C20 would focus on creating innovations to benefit everyone.
"The Indonesian Presidency is committed to supporting and accepting inputs from each civil society organization on current challenges," he added.
The success of Indonesia's Presidency has also been the result of the contributions of all delegates, Hartarto stated.
For this reason, he said his ministry welcomes C20, which would be supported by seven working groups. The first focuses on access to vaccines and global health; the second on the environment, climate justice, and energy transition, he informed.
“Third, development, SDGs, and humanitarian (efforts). Fourth, education, digitization, and civic space. Fifth, gender equality. Sixth, anti-corruption, and seventh, taxation and sustainable finance," he added.

These main issues must be developed to get tangible results so that the community can gain benefits, the minister said.
"These issues are not only important for the Indonesian people but also for the global community," he added.
The main C20 issues are closely related to the agenda of the Indonesian Presidency, namely strengthening global health architecture, promoting digital-based economic transformation, and energy transition, he noted.
“In our approach, we call this without collaboration, the global economic recovery will not happen. Equitable access to vaccines will be expensive; without collaboration, there will be no peace and prosperity," Hartarto said.
That is why Indonesia has chosen "recover together, recover stronger” as the theme for its Presidency of the grouping, he explained. Indonesia is ready to lead an advanced and developing economy, while making global recovery a common goal, Hartarto added.
Meanwhile, chair of C20 Indonesia, Sugeng Bahagijo, said that C20 Indonesia will hold the kick-off meeting titled ‘Listening to the World’ in Bali from March 7–9, 2022.
The big theme has been chosen to reflect the commitment of the Indonesian civil society to listening to the aspirations of the global civil society in carrying out the mandate of the C20 during Indonesia’s Presidency of the G20, he added.
“(This will be) In accordance with President Joko Widodo's mandate, that the Indonesian G20 Presidency must carry the spirit of solidarity and inclusiveness, and also make our position as representatives of developing countries and listen to the aspirations of poor countries in the policy-making process in the G20," Sugeng Bahagijo said.
The kick-off ceremony highlighted global issues such as humanity, development, global taxes, energy transition, to problems faced by women and vulnerable and marginalized groups through presentation sessions and dialogues, he added.
