The victims' bodies were flown from Timika's Moses Kilangin Airport to the respective destinations, Papua Police's Public Relations Head Senior Commissioner, Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, stated here on Tuesday.
The bodies were identified at the Mimika Regional Hospital and released with a procession of respect as the heroes of development in Papua.
The remains of Syaril Nurdiansyah and Eko Septiansyah will be buried in Jakarta, while Bili Galdi Balion's body will be laid to rest in Bandung, Ibo's body will be buried in Subang, and Jamaluddin's body in Rangkasbitung.
The remains of Bona Simanulang were sent to Palu, Central Sulawesi, for burial, while Bebi Tabuni's body was flown to Ilaga, Puncak District, according to Kamal.
The police managed to evacuate the slain workers on Monday (Mar 7) after the only survivor, Nelson Sarira, was evacuated to Timika, Mimika District, Papua, on Saturday (Mar 5).
The workers were murdered on Wednesday (Mar 2) at the PT PTT employee camp in Jenggeran Village on the border between the districts of Puncak and Intan Jaya.
"Nelson Sarira survived after he managed to escape and hide in the bushes until he finally reported about the incident that had transpired with them that was captured on CCTV," the police's spokesman stated.
In December 2018, some 31 construction workers were murdered by Papua's separatist terror group in Yigi Sub-district, Nduga District, Papua Province.
