Bekasi, W Java (ANTARA) - Chief of the National Police (Polri) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, on Wednesday, rolled out COVID-19 booster shots for workers across Indonesia.

The booster vaccinations will target industrial workers in the country's 34 provinces, Prabowo remarked while opening booster vaccination services called Wednesday WedVaksinasi Booster Presisi in the PT Fajar Paper compounds in Cikarang Barat Sub-district, Bekasi District, West Java, on Wednesday.

"Today, we rolled out booster vaccinations for workers. We target to administer 1.5 million doses of the booster vaccine across Indonesia today. We are optimistic of the number increasing in the future," he remarked.

The booster vaccination is crucial to boost the workers' immunity against the Omicron variant of COVID-19, he affirmed.

"At this moment, the Omicron variant is circulating, so the workers must keep themselves healthy. To this end, they must receive booster vaccination," he remarked.

During the launch of booster vaccination, PT Fajar Paper provided packages of basic necessities worth Rp5 billion to workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic across Indonesia.

President of the Confederation of All Indonesia Labour Union (KSPSI) Andi Gani Nena Wea symbolically handed over the packages of basic necessities to some workers.

Acting Bekasi district head Akhmad Marjuki praised the National Police and the private sector for the booster vaccinations, especially for workers in Bekasi District.

"Thank you to the leadership of the National Police and PT Fajar Paper for their readiness to facilitate the vaccinations and provide basic necessities to workers affected by COVID-19 pandemic. Surely, the vaccination must be continued to achieve the target of more than 95 percent," he remarked.
