Meulaboh, Aceh (ANTARA) - A 5.2-magnitude earthquake jolted Meulaboh, the capital of West Aceh District, Aceh Province, on Thursday, setting off panic among the residents.

"The quake did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami," Yoga Al Ma'ruf, spokesman for the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Station in Meulaboh, noted in a written statement released on Thursday.

The epicenter of the quake, which struck at 11:26 a.m. local time, was located 41 kilometers southwest of Meulaboh, at a depth of 15 kilometers, he remarked.

No injuries or fatalities were reported.
