Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Sea Transportation Operator Unit has expanded the capacity of passenger ships on the Muara Angke-Seribu Islands route to 100 percent, but with the application of strict health protocols.

"The 100-percent capacity has been applied, but the (number of) travelers has not been maximal, like (during) the holidays," Jakarta Sea Transportation Operator Unit head Hendrico Tampubolon said here on Monday.

The decision to implement 100-percent capacity has followed the issuance of a new regulation by the Ministry of Transportation, he informed.

The regulation is stipulated in Circular Letter No.24 of 2022 on Instructions for Domestic Travel with Sea Transportation during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Tampubolon said the supervision of passengers and the ship capacity adjustment will be tightened and carried out in collaboration with various parties. This will be done at a number of locations such as dock entrances, ship entrances, and interiors.

Meanwhile, all prospective passengers will need to be fully vaccinated and their vaccination status will need to be available on the PeduliLindungi application. Passengers will still need to follow the health protocols both onboard and on the destination island.

"All passengers must have been vaccinated against the COVID-19 that is clarified through the PeduliLindungi application, JAKI, or printed (vaccine) certificates, so that the aspects of passenger safety and comfort are maintained," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Jakarta Transportation Office's Sea Transportation Operator Unit has readied six passenger ships, including four new ships at Kali Adem Port, to serve the Muara Angke-Seribu Islands round-trip route. Each of the ships can carry up to 50 passengers.

The fare for a one-way trip is Rp44 thousand per 20 miles, Zone 1 (short distance) Rp40 thousand, Zone 2 (medium distance) Rp50 thousand, and Zone 3 (farthest distance) Rp70 thousand.

"Some four new ships are already available at Kali Adem Port to sail and serve people and tourists who are heading to the Seribu Islands region," Tampubolon said.
