"In line with the spirit and mandate of sustainable development goals (SDGs), the goal that must be achieved by all countries in the world, including Southeast Asia, is to end all forms of discrimination against women," she said.
Moerdijat made the statement while delivering the key speech at an international webinar entitled "Building ASEAN Community Through Women's Perspective,” which was broadcast online through the Zoom Meeting platform and monitored from here on Monday.
By eliminating all forms of discrimination against women, all women would be able to participate fully and have equal opportunities to participate as leaders in policy making such as regarding politics, the economy, and the public, Moerdijat said.
Therefore, there are three efforts that governments must put forward to achieve gender equality, she added.
The first effort is to eradicate all harmful practices such as child marriage, she said.
Second, governments must also eradicate all forms of violence against women in public and private spaces, such as the practice of human trafficking, sexual violence, and all forms of exploitation, she added.

"The third (effort) is to adopt and strengthen the enforcement of legislation that promotes gender equality and the empowerment of all women at all levels," she said.
The MPR deputy speaker emphasized to all ambassadors that gender equality must be achieved, not only as per point number 5 of the SDGs regarding gender equality but on all points contained in the SDGs.
"Every goal can be achieved if it starts from a joint movement," she remarked.
