Jakarta (ANTARA) - Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita has expressed hope that the Jakarta Auto Week (JAW) 2022 automotive exhibition will boost vehicle sales in Indonesia.

"We hope that the moment or forum of the Jakarta Auto Week exhibition can (make real contributions) to the sales of car products in Indonesia," he said at the JAW 2022 opening at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), here on Tuesday.

The government lauded the Indonesian Motor Vehicle Industry Association (Gaikindo) and exhibitors who have successfully held the automotive exhibition so far.

Through this exhibition, it is hoped that the public can get various benefits, including being aware of government policies, Gaikindo, and companies supporting the growth of the country's automotive sector, Kartasasmita said.

In addition to being an important sector for national economic growth, the automotive industry is also contributing to the environment through the application of the Euro4 emission standard to diesel vehicles, he highlighted.

"Since April 12, there is already one regulation that says the produced new cars must have the Euro4 standard," Kartasasmita pointed out.

Meanwhile, Gaikindo Chairman Yohannes Nangoi said Jakarta Auto Week 2022 is aimed at increasing vehicle sales in Indonesia, especially in the first half of 2022.

He said the offers are expected to attract visitors to make transactions during the exhibition.

"We hope that Jakarta Auto Week can get a positive welcome from the community and can record maximum results," Nangoi said.
