Of the 60 thousand tickets available for the event, Praise be to God, all have sold out. I hope (the event) will be the newest brand of our country
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Some 60 thousand tickets made available for the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia at the Mandalika Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara, have all sold out, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated.

"Of the 60 thousand tickets available for the event, Praise be to God, all have sold out. I hope (the event) will be the newest brand of our country," the president noted during a press conference at the Merdeka Palace while sending off the MotoGP racers' parade on Wednesday.

According to the president, the event has made Indonesia at par with other countries that were successful in organising MotoGP championships.

The quality of the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit that will host the MotoGP championship is also recognised by the global community, Jokowi noted.

Regarding revenues and profit that the government and tourism industry receives during the MotoGP championship, the president affirmed that the authority will have to wait for the event's conclusion before estimating the potential revenue.

"We only estimate the total spectators that attended the event after the event's conclusion. Just wait for the event to conclude first on Sunday," Jokowi remarked.

Earlier, the president sent off MotoGP racers to start the parade from the Merdeka Palace to the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout in Central Jakarta. Before the parade, he hosted the racers at an audience in the Palace.

As observed by Antara, the bikes ridden by the racers are produced by the manufacturing teams, such as Honda, KTM, Ducati, Aprilia, Yamaha, and Suzuki.

The MotoGP racers' convoy is guarded by police and military officers, and dozens of motorcycle riders from various biking communities also joined the parade behind the racers.

While slowly riding their bikes, MotoGP racers greeted and waved out to the fans and media crews watching the parade along the three-kilometre stretch of the road.
