Belitung, Bangka Belitung (ANTARA) - The Communication and Informatics Ministry will review Internet connectivity in Belitung district, Bangka Belitung Islands province, as it has been designated as the location for the G20 Development Ministers meeting from September 7 to 9, 2022.

"A team from the Communication and Information Technology Ministry has (been dispatched) to the location to check the condition of the Internet network in a number of locations in Belitung," head of the Belitung Communications and Information Office Muhammad Iqbal informed in Tanjung Pandan on Thursday.

The team will test the Internet signal strength at the venue for the G20 Development Ministers meeting and other strategic locations in the area, he said.

The main venue for the meeting is the Sheraton Hotel in the Tanjung Kelayang Tourism Special Economic Zone in Sijuk, Belitung, he added.

"So the signal strength condition at the main location must be in a good and stable condition without experiencing technical problems or other problems," he said.

A strong and uninterrupted Internet signal is also required at a number of other strategic locations, including the geosites in Belitung Geopark, which would be visited by delegates from 20 countries, he added.

"Such as in the coastal areas of Tanjung Kelayang, Lengkuas Island, Batu Bedil, Tanjung Bunga, which need to be surveyed on the condition of Internet signal strength," he elaborated.

The Belitung Communications and Information Office will install hotspots in some tourist destinations and geosites such as Bukit Peramun, Hkm Juru Seberang, and Tanjung Kelayang beach.

“Now, we are still waiting for the results of the survey, and should there be any improvements (that need to be carried out), we will immediately conduct repairs and maintenance in order to make the G20 event a success later on," Iqbal said.
