We, the Asian-African youths, hope the war between the two countries would end soon for the sake of global peace. We believe Russia and Ukraine will be able to put an end to the war in the event of a peace pact.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Asian African Youth Government (AAYG) President Saddam Al-Jihad voiced support to any proposal for a peace pact between Russia and Ukraine.

“We, the Asian-African youths, hope the war between the two countries would end soon for the sake of global peace. We believe Russia and Ukraine will be able to put an end to the war in the event of a peace pact,” he noted in a written statement released here on Wednesday.

He expressed hope that other countries would press for a resolution to the conflict, including through a peace pact. “It needs a resolution. Do not let it deteriorate and increase the escalation of war, which will potentially lead to regional and global instability,” he emphasized.

The AAYG president said he could not justify intervention from other countries or collective forces, such as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), to help Ukraine.

He urged the United States and other western countries to immediately stop arms and intelligence assistance to Kiev.

“The United States and its allies should not make economic, financial, and trade sanctions, among others, as a weapon to fight against Russia since (the sanctions) can have an impact on energy and food price hike,” he cautioned.

Earlier, during the 144th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly and related meetings, the Indonesian delegation, led by Head of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Board at the House of Representatives (BKSAP DPR) Fadli Zon, urged IPU members to include the context of IPU establishment in the draft resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Thus, he believed that the IPU played an important role in striving for dialog between Russia and Ukraine.

“Dialog and diplomacy are the main approaches to handle conflict and create eternal peace,” he affirmed.
