"We laud the government's commitment to continuing the disbursal of wage subsidy provided as assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic. The government must ensure that wage subsidies are received by those entitled to get it, so that the budget allocation can be effective," she noted in a written statement received here on Wednesday.
The House speaker also called on the government to execute the two aid programs in accordance with the predetermined schedule.
The government provides wage subsidy of Rp1 million for workers, with salaries below Rp3.5 million per month, that will be distributed starting from April.
Maharani is confident that the program could help workers, who were struggling economically, particularly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, she urged the government to validate or verify the recipients' data.
"Avoid errors during data verification. Ensure that workers, who should have received assistance, are not excluded due to technical errors while inputting data," she stated.

As many as 8.8 million people were targeted for the wage subsidy program, and the planned budget totaled Rp8.8 trillion. The program will also be followed, with a job loss guarantee scheme for those terminated from employment.
Maharani also urged the government to furnish further details regarding the distribution of wage subsidies under the job loss guarantee scheme.
Apart from the wage subsidy assistance, the government has also provided aid for MSME actors worth Rp600 thousand per beneficiary. The aid was expected to further back up the national economic recovery efforts, she stated.
"Of course, our colleagues, the MSME players, will be able to take advantage of this assistance as additional capital; and we expect that Indonesian MSMEs can rise again," she concluded.
