We are optimistic that land settlement and ownership in IKN Nusantara would become a pilot model for solving land and forestry problems to fulfill the principles of justice and legal certainty
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Presidential Staff Office's Chief Deputy II Abetnego Tarigan ensures land ownership and forestry issues in new capital city (IKN) Nusantara, North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan, will be settled based on legal provisions and uphold justice.

"We are optimistic that land settlement and ownership in IKN Nusantara would become a pilot model for solving land and forestry problems to fulfill the principles of justice and legal certainty," Tarigan noted in a written statement related to the result of KSP's coordination meeting with ministries/non-ministerial institutions, received here, Thursday.

He remarked that the government is currently finalizing derivative regulations from Law Number 3 of 2022 on IKN Nusantara that includes six draft regulations and is targeted to be completed by April 15, 2022.

The government will always involve the public in mapping, recording, and inventorying land issues in the new capital city, he stated.

The coordination meeting for the settlement of land, forestry, and communication strategies in the IKN Nusantara area was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Ministry of Environment and Forestry, National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Deputy Governor of East Kalimantan, and Head of North Penajam Paser District.

"In the land acquisition, individual or communal rights should not be taken for granted by the state without proper compensation. There will not be a small piece of community land that the government will misuse," Director-General of Land Procurement and Land Development at the ATR/BPN Ministry, Embun Sari, emphasized.

In dealing with land disputes and land acquisition processes in IKN Nusantara that have the potential to displace customary territories, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government has developed a framework for the inventory, verification, and management of land issues through Governor Regulation Number 6 of 2020.

Inventory and verification of land dispute claims are also conducted by the ATR/BPN Regional Service and Land Service.

The KSP also noted that the central government will form the IKN Land Task Force led by the Ministry of ATR/BPN. In addition, the arrangement of forest areas with community control will be managed by the IKN Nusantara Development Task Force under the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

"The KSP will continue to provide support to related ministries and agencies in ensuring that IKN Nusantara's development is a success," he concluded.
