Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) has urged ministries/institutions and local governments to consolidate and establish a clearing-house mechanism to resolve land and forestry problems in Nusantara capital city (IKN), East Kalimantan.

The clearing-house mechanism is necessary so that the government's response to land and forest problems in the new capital, Nusantara, can be quick and in sync, Deputy II of KSP Abetnego Tarigan said here on Thursday.

"KSP's concern is related to how to respond to the social dynamics and process of mapping and sorting that is quick and synchronous. Currently, efforts to manage land and forest issues in IKN are conducted by each ministry/institution involved. So, there needs to be consolidation," he added.

The clearing-house mechanism is a forum for resolving problems in policymaking by involving stakeholders and other relevant parties, according to a press release from the KSP.

Tarigan said that the data and mapping results of land problems in the Nusantara area are managed by the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Agency for Land Affairs, the Forestry and Environment Ministry, and local governments separately, which, he opined, has the potential to lead to data discrepancies.

"KSP hopes that ministries/institutions at the central level can be in sync with the local government and can be precise in responding to the community regarding land and forestry problems in the IKN area," he added.

Meanwhile, acting district head of Penajam Paser Utara, Hamdan Pongrewa, informed that public understanding of the governor's circular letter and the central government regulation is that the government will displace the people.

"This needs to be pointed out that (the public understanding is wrong) with synchronous and integrated public communication," he said.

Pongrewa expressed the hope that the integration of IKN regulations will be carried out soon so that local governments can respond to the situation and provide proper information to the community.
