Digitisation is essential to make us recover strongerJakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia has encouraged G20 countries to promote sustainable growth through digitisation and the adoption of digital technology that could enhance post-pandemic recovery in several sectors.
"We encourage the global community (and particularly G20 countries) to collaborate to recover together from the COVID-19 pandemic and recover stronger sustainably. Digitisation is essential to make us recover stronger," spokesperson for Indonesia's G20 Presidency Maudy Ayunda stated on Thursday.
Indonesia's G20 Presidency's main theme "Recover together, recover stronger" reflected the country's encouragement to the global community to move forward beyond the COVID-19 pandemic, she noted.
G20 countries are also expected to adopt digital technology as the primary medium for the recovery as Indonesia has exemplified, the spokesperson stated.
"For the last two years, Indonesia has committed to accelerating digital transformation in the four strategic sectors of digital infrastructure, digital government, digital society, and digital economy," Ayunda remarked.
Digital activities in various social sectors are boosting the national economy ecosystem, enhancing technology information capability and expediting digital transformation, she remarked while affirming that designating digital transformation as a global priority issue would be appropriate.
"Indonesia will encourage G20 countries to commit to real action and collaboration to realise inclusive and equal digital transformation in many sectors," the spokesperson stated.
Ayunda highlighted that adoption of digital technology was discussed in various G20 working groups in the trade, investment, industry, agriculture, tourism, think tank, and business sectors.
She believes that bolstering digital transformation in Indonesia could expedite the development of a digital-based economy, particularly in the micro, small, and medium enterprises sector.
The spokesperson pointed out that the tanimbar woven fabric from Maluku that she used while presenting the statement could be purchased through the online medium without having to visit the store as a positive impact of the adoption of digital technology.
"I even know the meaning of patterns in the fabric through digital technology," Ayunda remarked.
Digital technology will also make access to healthcare, education, and economic activities more convenient for Indonesia and ensure residents in remote and underdeveloped regions are included in the global development, she noted.
"Hence, Indonesia's G20 Presidency is expected to present breakthroughs that will continue global digital economic governance in the future. All members of society are expected to contribute and collaborate in digital transformation for the progress of Indonesia and the global community," the spokesperson stated.
