Banda Aceh, Aceh (ANTARA) - State-owned construction company PT Hutama Karya (HK) is preparing to open the second section of the Sigli-Banda Aceh (Sibanceh) Toll Road for Aceh people for the 2022 Eid Al-Fitr homecoming trip.

HK’s branch manager for the Sibanceh Toll Road, Jarot Seno Wibawa, informed here on Monday that the second section of the highway covers the Seulimum-Jantho section, extending over a distance of 6 kilometers (km), for which an operation permit has been obtained from the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry.

In addition to the road, HK has prepared the officers and all road equipment for the operation of the section.

Furthermore, it has also proposed the opening date for the operation of the section to the ministry. Currently, it is waiting for a response to the proposal and further instructions.

"Once the operational instructions are issued, we will immediately open the section," he said.

If the proposal is accepted, there will be three sections of the Sibanceh highway that have been completed and made operational, including the second section of Seulimum-Jantho, the third section of Jantho-Indrapuri, and the fourth section of Indrapuri-Blang Bintang, spanning a total distance of 36 km.

The branch manager said that the utilization of the third and fourth sections of the toll road has not been optimal since the sections are quite far from the national road.

"If God wills, by opening the second section which is quite close to the national road, we expect that people will be interested in using the highway to facilitate and shorten their trip," he added.

Meanwhile, the fifth and sixth sections of the toll road are targeted to be finished in the middle of 2022. Meanwhile, the first section is expected to be completed at the end of 2022.

The Sibanceh toll will have seven toll gates and six interchanges. In addition, two Rest and Service Areas (TIP) will be placed at KM 37 of the third section and KM 54 of the fourth section of the 74-km toll road.
