Banda Aceh, Aceh (ANTARA) - Once all six sections of the Banda Aceh - Sigli toll road are completed, about three thousand cars are expected to ply on the road daily, Budi Harto, the president director of state-owned construction company PT Hutama Karya, revealed here on Tuesday.

The six sections of the Banda Aceh - Sigli toll road are: Padang Tiji - Seulimum (24.3 km), Seulimum - Jantho (7.6 km), Jantho - Indrapuri (16 km), Indrapuri - Blang Bintang (13.5 km), Blang Bintang - Kuta Baro (7.7 km), and Kuta Baro — Baitussalam (5 km).

On Tuesday, President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Indrapuri - Blang Bintang section, said Budi Harto said.

Section 4 of the Banda Aceh - Sigli toll road features the intersections of Indrapuri and Blang Bintang, a toll gate, and a rest area, he informed.

The rest area facility, which is located on Kilometer 54, remains under construction, he added.

The Banda Aceh - Sigli toll road would have six intersections, seven toll gates, and two rest area facilities, Budi Harto stated.

Speaking about the new toll road in Aceh, which is a part of the Trans-Sumatra toll road construction project, President Joko Widodo had earlier said that it would help create new centers of business and economic growth in the province.

President Jokowi has demanded that the main corridor of the Trans-Sumatra toll road sections in Aceh be integrated with and connected to the province's tourism and agricultural centers, as well as industrial areas.

This would ensure the people at large can benefit from the construction of the toll road sections in Indonesia's westernmost province, he explained.

Section 4 of the 74-kilometer-long Banda Aceh - Sigli Toll Road is the first highway to be built in Aceh, while all the sections of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road are expected to be completed in 2024.

Work on the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road project is still underway. State-owned construction companies involved in the project are striving ceaselessly to ensure that it is completed within the deadline.

Since the first and second leadership terms of President Widodo, infrastructure has been accorded a special priority, with the remarkable extension of toll roads bearing testament to this thrust.

According to the Public Works and Housing Ministry, at least 941 kilometers of toll roads and 3,423 kilometers of national roads were constructed during the first leadership term of President Jokowi. (INE)
