We ensure that Pertamina will be able to meet the fuel oil needs during the Eid homecoming period.
Cirebon, W Java (ANTARA) - The consumption of fuel oil during the 2022 Eid homecoming period is expected to increase 10–15 percent compared to 2019, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Arifin Tasrif has said.

"The increase in fuel oil consumption is estimated to reach 10-15 percent compared to the 2019 Eid homecoming period," he noted while observing a gas station at the Kanci-Pejagan section of the Trans Java toll road here on Thursday.

Given the forecast for a fuel oil consumption hike, the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry has deemed it necessary to ensure the preparedness of state oil and gas company Pertamina, he said.

Based on observation at several gas stations on the Trans Java toll road, he said he believed that Pertamina is ready to meet fuel oil needs for homecoming travelers.

Fuel oils, including Pertalite gasoline, diesel oil, and Pertamax gasoline, will be enough to meet the demand until the 2022 homecoming period ends, he added.

"We ensure that Pertamina will be able to meet the fuel oil needs during the Eid homecoming period,” he affirmed.

In addition, Pertamina has also prepared facilities to ensure the distribution of fuel oil to Eid homecoming travelers, he said

Some rest areas, which previously had no gas stations, have been equipped with gas stations, he informed.

An estimated 85.5 million Indonesians are expected to travel during the homecoming period.

Nearly 47 percent of them will travel via land routes using private vehicles (cars and motorbikes) or buses, spokesperson for the Transportation Ministry, Adita Irawati, said during an online discussion, accessed from Jakarta on Monday.

It is estimated that around 14.3 million homecomers will depart from Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) this year. This marks a nearly 45-percent increase compared to 2019, that is before the start of the pandemic.
