"We must unite to build this nation. Indonesia was built with togetherness and mutual assistance among various primordial ties. There are Javanese, Sundanese, Sumatran, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and others, who came together for nature, giving birth to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," Minister Mahfud remarked during his preach at the 2022 Eid prayer at the Nursiah Daud Paloh Mosque, Media Group Complex, West Jakarta, on Monday.
In line with the motto "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika," Mahfud urged Indonesian people to unite to achieve common goals.
"We are different, but we can be together in things that require togetherness. That is why, this country is based on Pancasila and it is called mitsaqan ghalidza. This is a noble agreement," he stated.
He later remarked that the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia is an entity that must also be re-purified while calling to return the idealism to the origin of its founding philosophy.
"The Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia was originally built with togetherness. Therefore, we must unite to build our nation," he added.
He later noted that during every Eid, there was a tradition of apologizing and forgiving one another. It is a tradition and culture that was created by the predecessors.

"Apologizing to each other and forgiving one another are part of an Islamic tradition that do not exist in primary Islamic teachings. Homecoming and family gatherings during Eid are traditions. This tradition has a reward in Islam. Do not say culture and tradition are sinful. Everywhere, Islam is being developed without losing its principles. Hence, Eid in Indonesia is different than that in other countries," he emphasized.
Eid al-Fitr also offers a momentum to clean up and start a new and better step, he stated.
"As a state, we must step up to a better living after Eid," he concluded.
