While KAI Commuter operates 20 trips daily on normal days, during the Eid holiday, it will operate 24 trips on the Yogyakarta-Solo route from 5 a.m. to 8:17 p.m. every day, KAI Commuter's VP corporate secretary, Anne Purba, informed in Solo on Thursday.
As of 7 p.m. on Wednesday (May 4, 2022), the number of KRL users on the route was recorded at 17,673, she said.
The figure was 14 percent higher compared to the previous day's volume (May 3, 2022), which was pegged at 15,188.
"This figure was also the highest volume of Yogyakarta-Solo KRL users during this Eid period," she noted.
Overall, KAI Commuter reported that during the Eid exodus and return period, the total number of Yogyakarta-Solo Commuter Line passengers reached 105,677, or 8,806 passengers per day on average.
Furthermore, a spike in the number of passengers was also observed on the Prambanan Express Railway. As of May 4 afternoon, 2,241 people took trains plying on the Solo-Yogyakarta route.
"The total number of passengers of the Prambanan Express Railway local train during the Eid period, which is from April 22 to May 3, 2022, was 22,762 people," Purba disclosed.

Further, KAI Commuter is operating eight trips of the Prambanan Express Railway local train from 5:15 a.m. to 5:35 p.m. local time, she added.
To meet the high demand, KAI Commuter has made preparations to handle 32,160 users per day on the Yogyakarta-Solo Line, she said.
Meanwhile, for the Prambanan Express Railway local train, KAI Commuter has capped the capacity at 2,400 users per day.
The Yogyakarta-Solo Commuter Line was opened by President Joko Widodo in March 2021 to support connectivity across regions, according to the Transportation Ministry.
