Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir affirmed that his ministry had, since the start, striven to ensure professional and transparent implementation of the 2022 Eid homecoming in order to serve the community.

"We can see that our 2022 Eid homecoming can run in a transparent and professional manner despite us having a shortcoming in several aspects. However, we strive to ensure that homecoming this year can run well, with coordination from various ministries, the national police (Polri), Indonesia Defense Forces (TNI), and the public as well," Thohir noted as quoted from his official Instagram account @erickthohir, Monday.

The minister also remarked that the success of this Eid homecoming was not solely the government's responsibility but also the community that played an important role.

"SOEs, from our airline, airport operator, ships, ports, toll roads, fuel, and others, also collaborate with each other for this homecoming. It has been proven that we can do this. I call it a healthy synergy among SOEs. We must welcome this collaboration," he emphasized.

Earlier, the minister affirmed that the government's preparations in handling the 2022 Eid homecoming were quite good despite the presence of several shortcomings.

The 2022 Eid homecoming is an explosion of exodus after the government prohibited the public from visiting their hometowns for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, Thohir noted.

Thohir also vowed that his side will continue to make improvements to address the shortcomings during this year's homecoming. In addition, he lauded the various parties that have worked together to serve the community during this homecoming period.

Thohir stated that an extraordinary surge had occurred during the 2022 homecoming flow. This could not be separated from the keenness of several people, who were unable to go home for two years.
