These SNIs provide local authorities, alert teams, and the people with shared understanding and serve as a formal guideline in capturing early warning so that everyone can act together to anticipate disaster impacts.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Standardization Agency (BSN) has developed and determined 23 national standards (SNIs) for managing disasters during the 2011—2022 period, the agency's infrastructure, suitability evaluation, personnel, and creative economy standard development director has stated.

Of the 23 disaster SNIs, one was revised and issued recently, namely SNI ISO 22301:2019 on Security and Resilience — Business Continuity Management Systems — Requirements, which the agency determined in 2021, Iryana Margahayu informed here on Monday.

The development of disaster SNIs is aimed at building awareness and alerting people living in disaster-prone areas through disaster risk reduction.

It is known that Indonesia is vulnerable to disasters such as floods, landslides, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions.

The 23 disaster SNIs include SNI 7743:2011 on Tsunami Evacuation Sign, SNI 7766:2012 on Tsunami Evacuation Route, SNI ISO 22300:2012 on Societal Security — Terminology, and SNI 7937:2013 on Humanitarian Service in Disaster.

They also include SNI 8289:2016 on Volcanic Eruption Evacuation Route and Sign, SNI 8291:2016 on Ground Movement Vulnerability Zone's Formulation and Determination, SNI 8040:2017 on Tsunami Early Warning Siren, and SNI 8182:2017 on National and Provincial Level Disaster Risk Study.

They further comprise SNI 8235:2017 on Ground Movement Early Warning System, SNI 8288:2017 on Disaster Mitigation Training Management, SNI 8357:2017 on Disaster-Resilient Village, and SNI 9050:2022 on Epidemic Disaster Mitigation System.

They also cover SNI 8840-1:2019 on Disaster Early Warning System - Part 1: General, which was formulated by BSN to mitigate and reduce the impact and the loss of lives due to disasters.

"These SNIs provide local authorities, alert teams, and the people with shared understanding and serve as a formal guideline in capturing early warning so that everyone can act together to anticipate disaster impacts," Margahayu explained.
