"Under a strategy to encourage national economic recovery, the Government of Indonesia is also increasing investment at the regional level and encouraging industrial expansion through the establishment of new economic activity centers at the regional level," Hartarto stated while speaking at the International Conference On Eco-Industrial Parks, as quoted in a statement, Tuesday.
To support development of the industrial sector, the government has been providing incentives to industrial areas or Special Economic Zones (SEZ) and supporting infrastructure development around the SEZ areas.
The development follows a sustainable and environment-friendly framework that is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In addition, the government has encouraged the gradual realization of an Eco-Industrial Park (EIP) for all industries in Indonesia that aims to improve industrial performance by minimizing environmental impacts.
The G-20 Presidency of Indonesia supports inclusive and sustainable industries and supports EIP to contribute to resilience of the production process and promote sustainable economic recovery.
Indonesia's G20 presidency also offers a momentum for business players, especially industrial corporations and industrial estates, to participate in facilitating business meetings, so that it will encourage a more competitive ecosystem in the regional market.
"The industrial areas and industries can take advantage of this momentum to increase business competitiveness and improve added value, encourage business activities, and attract investment," he affirmed.
