Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Moeldoko welcomed the visit of Finnish State Secretary to the Minister of Economic Affairs Ann-Mari Kemell at the Presidential Palace complex here on Tuesday.

The agency head stated that the Finnish official had expressed her government's interest to cooperate with Indonesia in developing a green and environmentally-friendly city during the construction of the new capital Nusantara in East Kalimantan.

"Indonesia indeed needs to learn from Finland to prepare a roadmap to develop an environmentally-friendly city to expedite our efforts in achieving our carbon-neutral target in 2060," Moeldoko stated.

According to the Presidential Staff Office's statement, Finland is one of the cleanest and greenest countries that often takes the top spot for the happiest country in the world.

Finland has developed its cities, including Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Turku, Tampere, and Oulu, based on its sustainability principles, which have grown as a successful model of environmental-friendly and sustainable urban development.

The agency head then lauded the Finnish government's interest to cooperate with Indonesia in developing the new capital.

Moeldoko affirmed that the capital relocation plan demonstrates the government's concrete efforts to encourage environmentally-friendly development by constructing a green city that could expedite the efforts to reduce global carbon emissions.

Meanwhile, Kemell stated that her government is keen to share its experiences in developing sustainable cities with Indonesia.

"Our visit to KSP is to share our experience with Indonesia to develop sustainable cities. Furthermore, the new capital's development vision is compatible with the Finnish development vision," the state secretary remarked.
