Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) has set a target to train 60 thousand local talents to become digital entrepreneurs.

"Kominfo prepares and develops a talent pool to accelerate digital transformation in entrepreneurship and drive the digital economy, with a target of training 60 thousand people by 2022," Head of HR Research and Development of Kominfo Hary Budiarto noted in a press release, Tuesday.

To achieve the target, the Ministry is collaborating with the 10 x 10,000 Tech for Inclusion to conduct training at the Digital Entrepreneurship Academy (DEA), which is part of the Digital Talent Scholarship Program.

Registration for training of the 10 x 1,000 Fintech Foundation Flex Program is opened on the official Kominfo website for Digital Talent Scholarship.

"The results of this program are expected to improve the quality of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and promote digital economy in Indonesia," he affirmed.

This collaboration also involves the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture.

The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture's Deputy for Coordination for Quality Improvement of Children, Women and Youth, Femmy Eka Kartika Putri, noted that this training will help improve the women entrepreneurs' businesses.

"This training program is expected to help women entrepreneurs and MSMEs overcome challenges, such as limited access to entrepreneurship and understanding of digital technology, as well as difficulties in obtaining access to capital," she stated.

Some 60 percent of the MSMEs in Indonesia are managed by women. MSMEs account for at least 61.07 percent of the gross domestic product, according to Putri.

Head of the 10 x 1,000 program, Jason Pau, noted in the same statement that this collaboration is expected to bridge the digital skills gap and empower and improve the lives of local residents.

The 10 x 1,000 Tech for Inclusion has a vision of training one thousand new talents annually for a decade. Currently, they have trained 1,067 students from 66 countries and regions.
