Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah has awarded 15 governors for their performance to develop workplace safety and health in their respective provinces in 2022.

"I laud the governors, who have successfully enhanced work safety and health implementation in their respective regions as well as the companies that are also awarded (for their workplace safety and health performance)," Fauziyah noted in her statement here on Wednesday.

Apart from bestowing awards to governors, who performed most to develop workplace safety and health, this year's Work Safety and Health Award event that took place here on Tuesday (May 24) also includes awards bestowed in best work safety and health management, zero-accident performance, as well as HIV-AIDS and COVID-19 prevention in workplaces.

"It is the government and the Manpower Ministry's efforts to promote workplace safety and health by bestowing awards to parties that have successfully implemented work safety and health and to governors that have observed work safety and health implementation," the minister noted.

She believes that the Work Safety and Health Award is effective in motivating stakeholders to improve their performance, as the number of companies awarded for zero-accident performance, work safety and health management, and HIV-AIDS prevention in workplaces this year had increased significantly from that during the 2021 awards.

Fauziyah highlighted that this year, the ministry also awarded 916 companies for their efforts and performance to prevent COVID-19 infection in workplaces.

"We hope that the Work Safety and Health Award could motivate directors of other companies to maintain their work safety and health performance, as it is our form of investment to maintain business continuity and achieve company productivity," the minister stated.

The 15 governors awarded the best patron of work safety health in their respective provinces this year are all from East Java, Jakarta, East Kalimantan, West Java, Banten, Central Java, South Kalimantan, North Sumatra, Riau, South Sulawesi, South Sumatra, West Sumatra, Jambi, Southeast Sulawesi, and Yogyakarta.
