We have belief and faith that there are women in one team, and it can boost productivity
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Involving women can increase the company’s productivity, according to Finance and Risk Management Director at state-owned electricity company PLN Sinthya Roesly.

“We have belief and faith that there are women in one team, and it can boost productivity,” Roesly stated during a webinar of G20 Empower “Road to G20 2022” here on Wednesday.

Of the total 54 thousand PLN employers across Indonesia, some 10 thousand, or 20 percent, are women and half of the figure are engineers, she stated.

Hence, the company has made policies and come up with a working culture that support women in building their careers, she remarked.

Several partners of PLN that supply electrical equipment are women, she noted while adding that the company is not seeing differently something that is generally handled by men, she stressed.

“We are lucky that the State-Owned Enterprises Ministry has been focusing on encouraging the involvement of senior women at the management level. Alhamdulillah (thank God), the company treats women well through its policies in relation to combating sexual harassment and gender mainstreaming,” she noted.

Moreover, the company, through its woman association called Srikandi PLN, has developed inclusive programs -- capacity building, mentoring and coaching -- by cooperating with other related parties both local and abroad, the PLN’s Srikandi chairwoman stated.

“Male leaders are also involved in the programs. In terms of the policy, PLN has built its good supporting system, but we continue to develop based on the best practices from cultural perspectives since, as we know, that male hegemony remains the general perspective in Indonesia,” she pointed out.

To this end, there will be no issues that women will be marginalized in a company if it has supporting policies, exposure, and an environment for women to develop their potentials and careers, Roesly highlighted.

Roesly also spoke of her intent to contribute to women’s empowerment and development in the company.

“I am grateful for the privilege I have during my career in this company, and as Srikandi chairwoman, I want every woman worker to have the same opportunities since women and men are complementary,” she remarked.
