Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed on Monday that the President reached out to several counterparts, including Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
“These engagements are part of the President’s efforts to maintain close relations and accelerate international cooperation, particularly during the meaningful occasion of Eid al-Fitr,” Wijaya stated.
The diplomatic outreach extended to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, King Abdullah II of Jordan, and Saudi Arabian Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
Wijaya characterized these exchanges as a reflection of the "enduring brotherhood" between Indonesia and fellow Muslim-majority nations.
The calls followed a busy holiday schedule for the President, which included spending the final night of Ramadan in Medan, performing Eid prayers in Aceh on Saturday, and hosting a public "open house" at the State Palace in Jakarta.
In a statement issued Sunday, the Presidential Secretariat emphasized that these conversations reaffirm Indonesia’s role as a bridge for global unity.
As the world’s most populous Muslim-majority country, Indonesia aims to amplify "messages of peace, cooperation, and hope" across the Islamic world.
“Beyond a celebration, Eid al-Fitr provides a strategic space for diplomacy and symbolizes Indonesia’s staunch commitment to fostering global stability," the Secretariat added.
