The discussion took place at the 14th Indonesia–Russia Joint Commission Meeting (SKB) in Kazan, Russia, on Wednesday.
Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto met with First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov to discuss the progress of the trade agreement, signed on December 21, 2025, and is currently undergoing domestic ratification in each country.
"The trade agreement with the EAEU will provide market access, with the EAEU opening access to priority products such as palm oil and its derivatives, coffee, cocoa, fishery products, textiles, footwear, and furniture," Hartarto explained in a statement on Wednesday.
He viewed the meeting to reflect the strong commitment of both countries in strengthening concrete, pragmatic, and mutually beneficial economic cooperation.
Meanwhile, Denis Manturov emphasized Russia's commitment to continuously improving bilateral economic relations with Indonesia by strengthening cooperation in several strategic sectors.
During the meeting, the two countries discussed several priority issues, including agriculture, energy, trade, and the development of special economic zones.
Discussions covered access for Indonesian agricultural products for export to Russia, exploration of meat imports, and potential cooperation in fertilizer products.
Meanwhile, in the energy sector, the two sides discussed follow-up to the planned oil purchase, development of oil and gas fields, the progress of the Tuban Grass Root Refinery (GRR) project, and opportunities for nuclear energy cooperation.
In the trade sector, Deputy Minister of Trade Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri explained the government's efforts to boost Indonesian exports to Russia and the progress of the ratification and implementation of the I-EAEU Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
On the meeting, both countries also signed Agreed Minutes to strengthen cooperation in a number of strategic sectors.
The Agreed Minutes are joint documents that outline progress on the implementation of bilateral cooperation, the understandings reached in the Joint Decree, and the direction for follow-up cooperation in various priority sectors.
The Agreed Minutes cover strengthening cooperation in various strategic sectors, including trade and investment, renewable energy, agriculture and fisheries, industry, transportation and construction, higher education and science, health, tourism, culture, digital development and mass media, sports, geology and mineral resource utilization, and urban solid waste management.
