It is impossible for seven thousand delegates from 185 countries to come to Indonesia if they are not sure that Indonesia has succeeded in controlling COVID-19
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Main Expert Staff of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Abraham Wirotomo assessed that Indonesia is on the right track in its efforts to ending the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wirotomo made this remark following the words of praise by President of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly Abdulla Shahid to President Joko Widodo’s leadership in COVID-19 handling at the 7th Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) in Badung, Bali, on Wednesday (May 25, 2022).

“The appreciation from the UN has shown that we are already on the right track to ending the COVID-19 pandemic,” Wirotomo noted in a press release here on Friday.

He believes that President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi’s) success has lent assurance to countries in the world that the pandemic situation in Indonesia is increasingly under control.

"It is impossible for seven thousand delegates from 185 countries to come to Indonesia if they are not sure that Indonesia has succeeded in controlling COVID-19," he pointed out.

He noted that during the period from March 24 to May 26, 2022, Indonesia’s COVID-19 transmission was deemed to be under control, with the reproduction rate being stable at 1 for more than two months.

“The data has shown that the pandemic situation is continuously under control. However, we must not become complacent and hasty. Continue to wear masks,” he remarked.

Earlier, President of the UN General Assembly, Abdulla Shahid, at the 7th Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR), commended President Joko Widodo's success in handling and controlling the COVID-19 pandemic.
