Jakarta (ANTARA) - Second deputy of the Indonesian State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Ministry, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, called for the building of value-based and value-driven businesses for a better world at a recent Values 20 (V20) seminar.

Values 20 is a global community of thinkers and practitioners who are committed to supporting the Group of Twenty (G20) by preparing evidence-based and people-centered policy solutions to global challenges.

Wirjoatmodjo said that the present is “the right moment to talk about value-based business, especially since Indonesia just celebrated the birth of Pancasila on June 1,” according to a release issued by V20 and received here on Friday.

"With the rich values of Pancasila, we can build an Indonesia that makes us proud and help create a better world for mankind," he remarked while delivering the keynote speech at the "Valuenomics: Purposeful, Value-Driven Businesses for a Better World" webinar organized by V20 on Thursday (June 2, 2022).

Value-based business would not only create prosperity but also well-being, he stressed.

"These two things (prosperity and well-being) should go in balance, complementing each other in business practice. In addition, the core values of organizations are a fundamental factor for long-term sustainability because business practice in the current era is ‘doing good is doing well,’" he remarked.

In addition to Wirjoatmodjo, six business and economic figures joined the panel on Thursday: chair of Business 20 (B20), Shinta Kamdani; head of V - Culture & Social Responsibility Chambers Forum Human Capital Indonesia (FHCI) and the director of human capital at BRI, Agus Winardono; vice chairman of SUN Group and V20 Founding Circle, Shiv Khemka; head of corporate social responsibility at MIND ID, Binahidra Logiardi; vice president of internal audit risk management and business transformation at Paragon Technology and Innovation, Akhmad Saeful; and founding CEO of BRI Ventures and V20 delegate, Nicko Widjaja.

The webinar—which began with an introduction by Alissa Wahid, co-sherpa of V20 2022— focused on topics related to values and aimed to promote value-based economics and business practices that have produced benefits and virtues for the community and the nation.

All seven members of the panel were brought together on account of their wide experience in various aspects of implementing value-based businesses.

At the webinar, Wirjoatmodjo spoke about the practice of Pancasila and value-based business.

Meanwhile, Kamdani spoke about meaningful economy and national development.

Kamdani, who is chair of the B20 Engagement Group at the 2022 G20, also listed three Valuenomics points for the creation of a just economy for the public.

Valuenomics is an economic ideology which believes that value-based businesses will be able to create prosperous nations and eventually, a better world.

"The first is to place people as the top priority and to make them the center of a business’ gravity, meaning they should prioritize the wider community’s well-being and not be solely profit-driven. Second, businesses need to be developed in an inclusive and value-impacted ecosystem. Third, they must be environmentally friendly," she explained.
