Director general of climate change control at the Environment and Forestry Ministry Laksmi Dhewanthi expected that the 2022 Climate Change Expo and Forum, held as part of the commemoration of 2022 World Environment Day, could expedite the dissemination of information pertaining to various measures to tackle climate change.
"Fostering awareness and the spirit of collaboration with (everyone is necessary) because this is what we need to be able to combat the risks and negative impacts of climate change," she stated at the virtual event, accessed here on Wednesday.
The initiative to foster awareness was deemed necessary in order to pursue the global agenda, including the efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change. Actions were needed to deal with the impacts of climate change.
Dhewanthi noted that the theme of the exhibition, held at the ministry's Manggala Wanabakti Building in Jakarta, was "Improving Climate Action Toward Sustainability," an idea fostering the spirit of collaboration with all national stakeholders.

"(This can achieved) by focusing on the (contribution) of youth in the efforts to protect and manage the environment, including climate change control," she affirmed.
"Youth leadership becomes the (important) key to transform mindsets, behavior, and lifestyle, as well as leaving (behind) those 'business as usual' (mannerism) by improving science and innovation," Dhewanthi remarked.
She believes that such actions were in accordance with the various national agendas, including the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) document, which had been revamped.
"Our reference is to organize or implement climate change mitigation and adaptation agendas in Indonesia," Dhewanthi concluded.
