Jakarta (ANTARA) - An application that can simplify and expedite the process of issuance of land certificates within hours should be developed, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated in Wakatobi City, Southeast Sulawesi Province, on Thursday.

"(If we are) still using the manual method in this technology era, then we are not relevant. Hence, build a (working) platform. We (the government officials) may not be able to build it, (but we can) ask our brilliant youngsters (to develop it),” Jokowi remarked at the 2022 Agrarian Reform Task Force (GTRA) Summit.

The president emphasized that in order to implement agrarian reforms, the issuance of land certificates should be supported by synergy among all government institutions, including the Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning (ATR) Ministry/National Land Agency (BPN), other ministries, as well as regional governments.

Hence, he stressed that any ego clashes among those from ministries and institutions cannot be tolerated in the implementation of agrarian reforms.

In addition to agrarian reform, the president pointed out that inter-institutional ego had hindered infrastructure development, and as a reparative measure, all institutions should work harmoniously to address the problems.

For instance, through the one geospatial map policy, the president expects all ministries and agencies to expedite implementation of the reforms.

Since 2015, the government has continued to accelerate the implementation of agrarian reforms by increasing the issuance of certificates.

At the time, only 46 million land certificates out of the required 126 million certificates had been issued by the ATR Ministry/BPN.

This led to around 80 million people occupying their land without having any legal right or ownership certificate.

Hence, the president called on ATR Minister/Head of BPN Sofyan Djalil to solve problems related to land certification through the Complete Systematic Land Registration Program (PTSL) in stages, starting from five million, seven million, to nine million lands in a year.

"In fact, we can increase the number of lands which have to be certified, from 500 thousand lands in a year to nine million lands in a year,” he remarked.

Thus, currently, 80.6 million certificates of ownership have been issued, he stated.
