"We expect that there will be a process of experience exchange, network exchange, through this opportunity," he stated during the opening of the Jakarta Fair at Expo Kemayoran here on Thursday evening.
Such expo activities are not merely about interaction between visitors and stands that they come across but also interaction between stands, as they strive to learn from one another, the Jakarta governor pointed out.
The Jakarta Fair serves as a platform for businesses from various sectors to meet, thereby providing opportunities for network exchange and supporting one another for revival of the economy, he noted.
In addition, the 53th edition of the Jakarta Fair, which is held annually, also becomes a remarkable experience, especially for Jakarta's residents, who have been attending this event since their childhood days.
The Jakarta Fair is being held yet again from June 9 to July 17, 2022, after the event was not organized for the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Jakarta provincial government recorded that the number of visitors in 2019 had reached 6.8 million people, with total transactions amounting to Rp7.5 trillion.
Baswedan expects that the number of visitors and the total transactions during this year's Jakarta Fair can surpass the previous achievement, so that Jakarta's economy can revive after the pandemic.
During the Jakarta Fair event, some 2,500 corporation members, with 1,500 booths, showcase their products from various industries, including automotive, household appliance, furniture, electronic goods, culinary arts, creative industry, handcrafts, herbal and medicine, banking, service, and cosmetics.
The event also features a musical concert showcasing several bands, such as Slank, Tulus, Godbless, Fortwnty, Tipe-X, Fiersa Besari, Maliq n D'Essentials, and Pamungkas.
