In building the data center, the government should implement redundancy
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Communication and Informatics Minister Johnny G. Plate met with South Korean Interior and Safety Minister Lee Sang-Min to discuss cooperation in developing a national data center.

"We exchanged experiences to discuss data center development and financing plan," Plate informed in a press statement issued on Thursday.

"This is one of the programs to support the realization of digital transformation acceleration planned by President Joko Widodo," he added.

During the meeting, he communicated how Indonesia needs a national data center to realize electronic government.

"I said that, for the Indonesian government, we have the possibility of data-driven policy. To this end, we need to have a government cloud, data center, to support our electronic government in Indonesia," he said.

The development of a data center is a very important and strategic investment for Indonesia, he remarked.

"In building the data center, the government should implement redundancy," he said.

"We have decided to have at least four locations to support Eco-Friendly Industrial Park and make them more economically efficient (cost-efficient) and productive to become a part of Indonesia," he added.

The government is striving to keep the project on the right track and expedite the realization of cooperation.

Plate said his team will focus on procurement and all technical documentation contracts.

Meanwhile, other aspects, such as the financing agreement, loan documentation, and any related financing, will be overseen by the Finance Ministry and the country’s national funding institution, he informed.

"They will cooperate and communicate with the Korean Finance Ministry or institution partner," he added.

Plate, who is planning to visit South Korea to discuss the technicality of the partnership, said that the development of the national data center will be beneficial for the relations between the two countries.

"This project is beneficial and good for Indonesia and the Republic of Korea, especially for correct and accurate decision-making process in helping the two countries develop further," he remarked.
