G20 is an international forum whose members comprise 19 countries and European Union. They work together to address major issues. Indonesia is holding the presidency of the grouping this year.
In order to realize climate sustainability, the meeting discussed three matters, the Ministry's Climate Change Handling Director General Laksmi Dhenwanthi noted during a press conference to discuss the results of the Second G20 EDM-CSGW Meeting here on Tuesday.
The first topic of the discussion was focused on the co-benefits of climate change mitigation and adaptation actions and the role in preparing a condition or community that has climate resilience.
The second issue discussed at the meeting held on June 19-22, 2022, pertained to ways to strengthen special partnership cooperation and action for the sustainable ocean management initiative.

The third issue relates to ways to encourage and expedite the implementation of the nationally determined contributions (NDCs) with a sustainable approach or transition from the current condition to a low-carbon and climate-resilient condition.
NDCs embody efforts by each country to reduce national emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change.
Within the NDC document, or the commitment of every country toward the Paris Agreement, Indonesia aims to reduce GHG emissions by 29 percent independently and 41 percent with international support in 2030.
The Ministry's Pollution and Environmental Destruction Handling Director General, Sigit Reliantoro, remarked that several priority issues in the environmental sector were also discussed during the meeting.
These issues include land destruction, water management, ocean waste, excessive consumption, and resource efficiency.
In addition to these priority issues, the Indonesian government has a mission to recover peatlands and restore mangroves, he noted.
Indonesia shared detailed information concerning the efforts to recover peatlands and restore mangroves that included regulation, technical expertise, and evidences of field work with other countries, especially those having a tropical peatland ecosystem.
"This idea was also welcomed by countries with peatlands where cold or temperate climatic conditions were experienced," he stated.
