"If we use today's data, we will have 206 million (potential voters) for the presidential election in February and 210 million for regional elections in November," the ministry's Director General, Zudan Arif Fakhrulloh, stated here on Wednesday.
He clarified that the data compiled in the latest election potential voters' list (DP4) is not final and will be renewed constantly until the election day in 2024.
"Is the data fixed? No, it is subject to change. We will consider the data of military and police officers' intake as well as residents, who are retiring, returning from overseas and departing (overseas), and passed away. The data fluctuation will be high because we are still two years away (from the elections)," Fakhrulloh noted.
The official notified that the directorate general will continue to relay the sub-districts' population aggregate data (DAK2) and the DP4 to the General Elections Commission (KPU RI) to help the electoral agency determine the primary and final electoral rolls.
"Twice a year, the directorate general will provide data to KPU RI. The first semester data was relayed on June 20, and the second semester data is on December 30. We will share the data package," the director general elaborated.
He noted that the population administration and electoral laws instructed the Home Affairs Ministry to distribute the population data in the form of DAK2 and DP4 to the electoral commission.
"The DAK2 is for determining the electoral constituency, while DP4 is for determining residents, who will have voting rights," Fakhrulloh remarked.
