Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appointed Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian as State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB) ad interim minister, to fill the position of Tjahjo Kumolo, who died on July 1, 2022.

As quoted from the ministry's website, President Jokowi's decision was contained in a letter, numbered B-596/M/D-3/AN.00.03/07/2022, which was signed by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, dated July 4, 2022.

"With regard to the death of the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (Kumolo), we respectfully inform you that the president is pleased to appoint the Minister of Home Affairs as the ad interim Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform, on July 4-15, 2022," according to the letter.

The letter stated that Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian will serve as ad interim minister of PAN RB from July 4 to July 15, 2022.

Secretary-General of the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform Rini Widyantini confirmed the information.

"It is true (regarding Tito Karnavian being appointed as ad interim minister of PAN-RB)," she said when contacted by ANTARA on Tuesday.
