Depok, West Java (ANTARA) - Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the tourism industry must quickly adapt to the rapid changes in the business sector by embracing digitization, Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny G. Plate has said.

"Digital strategy alignment, a dynamic and sustainable process that needs constant changes by placing digital technology utilization in the business development, is needed by MSMEs to adapt to the various phenomenon and changes in the business sector," the minister added.

Plate made the remarks at the "Post-COVID-19 Pandemic Innovation of Digitalization in Regional MSMEs and Tourism Sector Ecosystem in Indonesia" webinar organized by the University of Indonesia (UI) on Thursday.

The minister said that the process of digital strategy alignment consists of five main phases, which are passive acceptance, connection, immersion, fusion, and transformation.

He affirmed that the government is continuing to encourage MSME and tourism industry actors to optimize digitization in their business to boost post-pandemic economic recovery and face the ongoing global changes.

"The government has conceived many policy packages and stimuli, particularly the National Movement of Proud of Indonesia-Made Products, Proud to Travel in Indonesia, affirmative action to domestic-made products, the development of five super-priority tourism areas, and various national economy recovery stimulus for the MSME and tourism sectors," Plate expounded.

He said that the ministry is also expediting efforts to accelerate the digitization of MSMEs and the tourism sector through digital infrastructure development around the nation.

The minister pointed out that more than 459 thousand kilometers (km) of fiber optic network has been laid on land and sea to bolster telecommunication.
