"I laud performances achieved by PT INKA. We must be proud that our people are capable of producing various rolling stock products, right from locomotives to electric trains and other rail carriages. (The products) have a good form and have been exported overseas, which increases the national foreign exchange reserves and creates new jobs," Subianto stated during his visit to PT INKA here Friday.
The minister opined that PT INKA's innovations and capabilities can boost the government's efforts to bolster national defense.
"(This is) particularly in the transportation sector. INKA has several capabilities that we hope would be collaborated with the military," he remarked.
The rolling stock company is currently exerting efforts to fulfill various orders from domestic and foreign sources.
PT INKA is currently producing dozens of electric buses that will be used for transporting delegates of the G20 Summit in Bali next November.
The company is committed to utilizing the opportunity presented by the G20 Summit to promote its products to expand to the global market.
Apart from the electric bus, the company is also committed to supporting the G20 Summit and the national tourism sector by producing tram movers that would be installed at the Beautiful Indonesia Miniature Park (TMII), East Jakarta, as well as developing cable cars.
During his visit to PT INKA, Subianto was welcomed by President Director Budi Noviantoro and company executives, Madiun Mayor Maidi and the municipal leadership forum, and local military officials.
Before visiting the rolling stock company, the minister presided over a limited internal coordination meeting at Iswahjudi Airfield, Magetan.
