(Upholding) moral values, in terms of sacrificial worship, is a process that is not easy when we are faced with a choice, namely, self-sacrifice for the purpose of worship
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati called on the ranks of the Ministry of Finance to uphold moral values in fulfilling the task of protecting state money.

"I hope that all levels of the Ministry of Finance would always be able to hold on to moral values," Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani stated here, Tuesday.

Sri Mulyani affirmed that moral values that can be acquired from Idul Adha (Day of Sacrifice) is an effort to sacrifice one's own interests in order to achieve the set goals.

This is illustrated by the story of Prophet Ibrahim AS, who dreamed that Allah ordered to slaughter his son, Prophet Ismail AS, although he was a highly awaited child.

However, both Prophet Ibrahim AS and Prophet Ismail AS did not hesitate to submit to the provisions of Allah until finally Prophet Ismail AS was replaced by Allah with a lamb for slaughter.

"(Upholding) moral values, in terms of sacrificial worship, is a process that is not easy when we are faced with a choice, namely, self-sacrifice for the purpose of worship," Sri Mulyani emphasized.

According to Sri Mulyani, the steps of Nabi Ibrahim AS and Prophet Ismail AS reflected a sense of integrity that must be followed by all levels of the Ministry of Finance.

She called to uphold integrity at all costs, as loyalty is paramount in pursuing a goal from all likely interferences arising from within oneself and from outside.

Integrity must be maintained by the Ministry of Finance, as the state treasurer, in the midst of several disruptions, for which strengthening resilience is an important aspect in maintaining the state budget.

The Ministry of Finance, while fulfilling its task of managing state finances, which is also part of worship, should work in accordance with the law, so that it is beneficial for the Indonesian people at large and be equitable.

Moreover, the Ministry of Finance is tasked with restoring the state budget after tackling the COVID-19 pandemic for the past two years.

Disruption, in the form of geopolitical turmoil, continues to occur, thereby leading to rising food and energy prices.

“We are faced with a trial to revive the state budget. Trials take turns, disturbances are always there," Sri Mulyani noted.

Hence, Sri Mulyani emphasized that the Ministry of Finance must continue to uphold integrity, in the midst of various temptations, in the form of material, authority, and the tendency to do something that is detrimental to other parties.

"We are not afraid because we have faith that Allah will always be there and show his love," the minister emphasized.
