We hope Hajj returnees will be the prototypes of Muslims who spread goodness, generosity, thoughtfulness, peace, and progress in their community
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Hajj pilgrims must serve as an example to their community after finishing their pilgrimage and returning to their hometown, a Religious Affairs Ministry official has said.

Secretary of the ministry’s Directorate General of Islamic Community Guidance, M. Fuad Nasar, expressed the hope that returning Hajj pilgrims would help realize individual and social piety in their community.

"We hope Hajj returnees will be the prototypes of Muslims who spread goodness, generosity, thoughtfulness, peace, and progress in their community," Nasar said, according to a press statement issued by the ministry here on Saturday.

It is also hoped that Indonesian Muslims' mental, spiritual, and moral qualities would improve as more Indonesians complete their Hajj, which is performed as a religious obligation, the official added.

"Let the light of Baitullah (House of God) inspire self-improvement and goodness for the nation," he remarked.

Hajj pilgrims began to return to Indonesia after completing their pilgrimage on Friday (July 15, 2022), with the first seven flight groups from four embarkation points arriving in Indonesia.

The first group consisted of 780 pilgrims from two flight groups of Jakarta-Pondok Gede embarkation point, 818 pilgrims from two flight groups of Jakarta-Bekasi embarkation point, and 714 pilgrims from two flight groups of Surakarta embarkation point, and 393 pilgrims from one flight group of Padang embarkation point.

Every Hajj returnee will undergo health checks upon arriving in Indonesia. Hajj returnees whose body temperature exceeds 37 degrees Celsius or who are experiencing symptoms of illness will undergo more health checks and a COVID-19 PCR test.

Hajj returnees will also undergo health checks after arriving at their respective Hajj dormitories and receive a health alert card for health observation for 21 days.
