I instead want to provide a space and opportunity to them, so it will not be a hit or trend only during school holidays but can be as popular as Harajuku in JapanTangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno will provide a space for suburban youth socializing and showcasing their fashion styles in Dukuh Atas, transit point of Dukuh Atas MRT and Sudirman railway station, Central Jakarta.
"I instead want to provide a space and opportunity to them, so it will not be a hit or trend only during school holidays but can be as popular as Harajuku in Japan," Uno stated here, Sunday evening.
Harajuku referred to areas surrounding the Harajuku Station in Tokyo, Japan, internationally known as the hub of Japanese youth culture and popular fashion and is popular among domestic and international tourists.

The minister said that with its uniqueness and popularity, "Citayam Fashion Week", a fashion show spontaneously organized by the youth gathering at Dukuh Atas, can be a medium to promote fashion trends and tourism.
"It is getting more and more interesting because we can see much, and there is a lot of uniqueness. They can also be fashion trendsetters," he stated.
Uno expressed optimism that the suburban youth, popularly known to have originated from "Sudirman, Citayam, Bojonggede, Depok” regions, abbreviated as SCBD, can be influencers that help to promote micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) products.
The ministry has also offered scholarships for teenagers initiating the movement that positively impacts development of the tourism and creative industry sectors, he noted.

"I highly laud them because now, when the economy faces many challenges, the youth offer various creative ideas to enhance the development of MSMEs in Dukuh Atas," Uno remarked.
Apart from scholarship, the ministry also offers opportunities to the youth to learn about the production of creative content to help them become more popular, he remarked.
Also positively responding to the suburban youth movement, Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria earlier said he was glad that youth from suburban regions were gathering and socializing at Dukuh Atas.
The mingling of residents in the Dukuh Atas region demonstrates that Jakarta is an attractive tourist destination for residents of Jakarta's buffer regions of Bogor, Tangerang, Depok, and Bekasi, the deputy governor stated.
