Through this activity, we want to make the public aware that protecting intellectual property rights is very important
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Intellectual property rights may serve as a source of income for creative economic players, Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Hamonangan Laoly has informed.

"As such, intellectual property rights will surely provide economic benefits," the minister noted in a written statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights at the Law and Human Rights Ministry is scheduled to disseminate information on intellectual property rights in Surakarta City, Central Java, on Wednesday (July 20, 2022).

Surakarta will be the second city to disseminate information on intellectual property rights through an activity themed "Yasonna Listens" at the Surakarta City Hall.

During the activity, Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Hamonangan Laoly and Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka will hold a discussion with the intellectual property rights community, including local residents.

"Through this activity, we want to make the public aware that protecting intellectual property rights is very important," he remarked.

Apart from having a positive impact on the source of the people's economy, protecting intellectual property rights may also serve as evidence to face any claim from an irresponsible party, he affirmed.

The activity is a manifestation of the government's support to always improve and update regulations and public services related to intellectual property rights, so that they will remain relevant to the current era, he emphasized.

To assist the public in protecting intellectual property rights, the Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights provides services to register copy rights, brands, patents, and industrial designs online, he stated.

In addition, the Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights launched the Automatic Approval of Copy Rights Registration (POP HC) early this year to accelerate the registration of copy rights.

"Before POP HC was launched, the registration process took one day, and now, it takes less than 10 minutes," he remarked.
