Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Alms Agency (Baznas) has launched a scholarship program for two thousand underprivileged students, high-achieving students, and young student activists as part of the utilization of zakat (alms) funds managed by the agency.

"We want to take part in preparing quality human resources since Indonesia will enter a human resource competition that will be quite tough in the future," head of Baznas, Noor Achmad, said at the launch of the 2022 Baznas Intellectual Scholarship program, which was accessed from here on Thursday.

The scholarship program aims to improve the nation's intelligence, which will have an impact on increasing family welfare and offer benefits to the community, he added.

The program is in line with Baznas' vision, namely improving the welfare of the Muslim community.

He expressed the hope that students who become mustahik (beneficiaries) of the program would become muzaki (alms givers) in the future.
