Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono stated that among the strategies implemented by the ministry at the event were the digitization of MSMEs, industrial downstreaming, and a green economy or eco-friendly sustainable economy.
Trenggono delivered his remarks in a written statement received here on Saturday.
The measures aligned with Presidential Decree No. 15 of 2021 as well as the response to President Joko Widodo's speech at the House of Representatives' Plenary Session on August 16, 2021, in which there were three aforementioned major strategies for national economic recovery.
Minister Trenggono stated that the movement was also part of increasing market access to support three innovation- and technology-based priority programs for the ministry's development geared towards a sustainable blue economy.
He deemed the theme, "Explore South Kalimantan Colours," to showcase South Kalimantan's diversity in terms of fish-based culinary dishes, Sasirangan batik patterns, various MSME products, and the wealth of their indigenous culture.
"The Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry fully supports the Proudly Made in Indonesia National Movement Program through the hashtag #PasarLautIndonesia (Indonesian Fish Market) by conducting various activities," the minister pointed out.
Through the program, he ensured that the ministry had curated selected MSMEs to participate in mentoring programs, branding development, and facilitating promotion for them, so they could have better market access capabilities in local markets and aim for exports.
In 2022, the ministry collaborated with the South Kalimantan government and the regional representatives of Bank Indonesia to implement the program.
"It is an honor for the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry to conduct the Summit of the Proudly Made in Indonesia National Movement in South Kalimantan," Trenggono added.
Director General of Marine and Fishery Products Competitiveness Improvement (PDSPKP), Artati Widiarti, stated that currently, 62,389 MSME units dealt in fish processing businesses.
During the event, the ministry, along with the South Kalimantan government and South Kalimantan representatives of Bank Indonesia, provided guidance and assistance to MSMEs in production, business management, promotion, and marketing activities.
They also facilitate the promotion and marketing of good MSME products through websites, social media, e-commerce, marketplaces, and in public open spaces. MSMEs are also involved in general training and onboarding conducted in collaboration with Shopee and Gojek.
"We also provide guidance and assistance to leading MSMEs, (so they will be) ready for export; and implement the South Kalimantan Proudly Made in Indonesia National Movement campaign," she concluded.
