Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) - The state-owned micro lender holding firm Ultra-Micro (UMi) Holding has held the ‘Senyum Rakyat’ (People’s Smile) Market Festival by involving 50 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Bali Province.

Financing firm PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) and pawnshop chain PT Pegadaian have handed over majority stakes to Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) to form the Ultra-Micro Holding. It was established to provide easy and affordable loan to the small businesses.

"The festival aims to provide an additional value for ultra-micro business players," Director of Operations and Sales of PT Pegadaian Eka Pebriansyah stated while visiting the festival here on Saturday.

The involved MSMEs were 15 customers of PT BRI, PT Pegadaian, and PT PNM respectively, as well as five MSMEs fostered by the Bali Provincial Cooperatives and MSMEs Office.

"We hope that (through the festival) MSME players can discover and obtain various easy and affordable financing products to help them increasing their capabilities and advancing their businesses," the director stated.

He continued that the event also helped to encourage the economy of the business players.

The ultra-micro service center (SenyuM) is a manifestation of a joint commitment to establish a supporting ecosystem for the development of sustainable and competitive MSMEs in Indonesia, Pebriansyah has stated.

"In addition to pawning and non-pawning financing products, PT Pegadaian also provides sharia-based micro loans (KUR) through our 4,086 outlets throughout Indonesia. The loan ceiling starts from Rp1 million (US$66.26) to Rp10 million (US$662.6), with a management fee (mu'nah) of 6 percent per year," he added.

The deputy mayor of Denpasar, I Kadek Agus Arya Wibawa, lauded the three UMi holding members for the implementation of the festival.

He also noted that there were at least 2,800 fostered MSMEs in the city.

Denpasar, he said, had provided business capital assistance and training for the MSME actors to keep developing their business in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Currently, the Denpasar City government is revitalizing the tourism infrastructure and organizing the MSMEs at Sanur Beach – one of popular destinations in Denpasar City.

Denpasar was the second host of the activity, as the first one was held in Cirebon District, West Java Province.
