Hence, updating the PK21 data in 2022 is crucial (to be conducted) by expanding the scope of (data) collection
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) Head Hasto Wardoyo has urged all levels of government to optimize use of data from the 2021 Family Data Collection (PK21) to accelerate extreme poverty alleviation efforts in Indonesia.

Wardoyo, in a written statement here on Thursday, said that routine data collection, conducted every five years, had been mandated in Presidential Instruction Number 4 of 2022 to be used as the basic data in the extreme poverty alleviation acceleration program.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has targeted zero-percent extreme poverty by 2024 in order to achieve the sustainable development goals that encompass a global commitment to alleviate extreme poverty by 2030.

Apart from extreme poverty alleviation, the PK21 data can also be used for stunting reduction acceleration programs. So far, 68,478,139 families are recorded in the data.

He explained that each data obtained had gone through the stages of preparation, examination, and testing through verification and validation with relevant ministries and agencies, such as the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture and the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing.

The PK21 data includes population, family planning, and family development as the three main indicators. It also provides a mapping of targeted families that are at risk of stunting.

"Hence, updating the PK21 data in 2022 is crucial (to be conducted) by expanding the scope of (data) collection," the BKKBN head remarked.
