Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Tourism and Creative Economy Minister has launched Tourism Hero, a workshop for business players in tourism villages, in a bid to boost innovation and human resource skills to improve the tourist areas as a whole.

The pilot session of Tourism Hero (Jagoan Wisata) is aimed at business players from four tourism villages: Bogor's Mulyaharja Village, East Jakarta's Condet Village, Mangunan's Kaki Langit Village, and Yogyakarta's Dewi Sambi Village.

"This 'Tourism Hero' breakthrough is an educational and interactive workshop initiative for tourism business players in all tourism villages. This program will assist in giving actual solutions for issues faced by tourism sector players, as well as many tricks for operating tourism businesses in a smarter way," Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said at the launch of the workshop, which was accessed from here on Tuesday.

The workshop will be conducted in a hybrid format and will include entrepreneurship training that will employ several methods, including case studies and even practical studies, for participants from four villages included in the Tourism Village Network.

Currently, participants are still being selected for the workshop. The study and coaching will take place from August 25 to September 29, 2022.

At the end of the workshop, participating business players will be asked to present a sustainable business idea for each tourism village, and the ideas will be showcased at the 2022 Tourism Hero competition.

Later, four business players will be chosen who will get benefits and appreciation if they succeed in delivering creative business ideas for their own tourism village.

"I hope tourism business players can utilize and seize this rare opportunity to improve their tourism business capacity. Keep up the spirit, never give up to improve Indonesian tourism," he remarked.

At the 2022 National Tourism Village Award held by the ministry, it was revealed that Indonesia has 3,419 tourism villages.

Of the total figure, 50 tourism villages have been deemed the best since they meet several criteria, such as local products attractiveness, good residential service standards, sustainable management, CHSE (Clean, Health, Safety, and Environment) standard compliance, and digitalization, as a means to improve tourism villages.

Initiatives such as Tourism Hero are expected to encourage more tourist villages to develop and grow so they can become the best in the future.

The initiative has been launched by online travel agent tiket.com, which is cooperating with another startup, Inspigo, to provide mentors and materials for tourism village business players' training.
