The digital platform will narrow and reduce the likelihood of bad business practices, such as corruption or compromised integrity
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Digitalization will narrow the opportunities for corrupt practices in various activities, including in the implementation of government policies, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati stated.

"The digital platform will narrow and reduce the likelihood of bad business practices, such as corruption or compromised integrity," Indrawati remarked at the Webinar on Digitalization as a Corruption Prevention Tool in Jakarta, Wednesday.

She noted that the Finance Ministry had attempted to conduct digitization by launching the Coal Management Information System (Simbara) and Integrated Information System (SIT) for upstream oil and gas activities.

Data integration from Simbara and SIT was carried out between the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Transportation, and Bank Indonesia.

The minister noted that oil and gas SIT and Simbara, which were related to the integrated information system of oil and gas as well as minerals and coal, offered several benefits.

These benefits comprised creating an integrated monitoring ecosystem, providing nationally consistent data, and harmonizing the structure of the commodity balance sheet.

Simbara and oil and gas SIT are expected to create matching data perception and information while ensuring data alignment and traceability from upstream to downstream for natural resource commodities (SDA), especially for oil, gas, mineral, and coal.

By tidying up data, it will encourage state revenue, taxes, customs and excise, and non-tax state revenues (PNBP), Indrawati noted.

In addition, data integration will facilitate the business world and prevent potential data manipulation for tax report that are different from exports and PNBP calculation from the business owners.

The oil and gas SIT and Simbara are also expected to increase accountability, speed, accuracy, and transparency of government services.

"We also hope that this would eliminate the opportunity for corrupt practices from upstream to downstream," the minister said.
